Microsystems for whole cell bioproduction
The use of whole cells to produce value-added molecules conventionally takes place in industrial-scale bioreactors. Despite increasingly advanced process development strategies, many bioprocesses fail in process development. Microsystems are distinguished by unique characteristics providing them with various advantages and offering new opportunities as production platform. Starting with a proof of concept, this project will bring whole cell microsystems beyond analysis to production.
